Finding Aid Collection

Finding Aid Collection

About this collection

The Finding Aid collection contains finding aids and inventory lists for most of the physical and digital collections. Think of a finding aid as an annotated Table of Contents; each contains a descriptive inventory which gives the physical information about the collection. For instance, the descriptive inventory would contain:

● the collection title
● donor information
● the size and types of materials in the collection
● a date range of the collection
● a unique ID or identifier
● historical context for the collection

A container list is like an inventory of all of the materials in a box, folder, etc. This makes it easier to find the items in a collection. Without a container list, finding anything would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack!
